InBev

Release Date: 13 March 2009

InBev is the world’s leading brewer, with a brand portfolio including Stella Artois, Beck’s, Leffe and Hoegaarden.

The business relies on a sustained sales pipeline and increasing sales revenue, which are fundamentally generated by having proactive ‘feet on the street’. They retain their sales talent, through accelerated development that rewards success. With succession planning a priority, this perpetually creates further entry level vacancies.

These sales roles have never specifically been ‘Graduate jobs’, but they are jobs that determined Graduates can do, and have proved themselves to be very successful in. Given that the Graduate talent pool is continually refreshed year on year, enthusiastic and driven Graduates – without baggage and bad habits - make ideal ‘grass roots’ talent for InBev.

ATTRACTION

InBev historically had difficulty recruiting enough good talent for specific UK locations in their ‘take-home’ and ‘on-trade’ sales teams. This is due, in part, to being an unfamiliar employer brand where jobseekers are concerned, particularly since the merger of Interbrew and AmBev.

Discovery has worked closely with the People Team at InBev for their World Class Commercial Programme, understanding their business unit and specific objectives. We have implemented a robust on- and offline attraction strategy, to attract enough of the right high-calibre applicants, capable of rapid development within the business.

RECRUITMENT

Discovery maintains the momentum of the recruitment and selection process for InBev, having secured a high enough volume of quality applications, freeing up InBev’s own in-house resources.

The CV screening and preliminary interviews happen rapidly; where the selection is made for the assessment centres, which are tailored specifically to reflect the values of InBev and engage the candidates with the business. After assessment and final interviews, offers are made to successful candidates within 24 hours to avoid losing out on the best talent to competitors.

Since 2005, Discovery has recruited more than 140 ambitious Graduates for InBev, with a typical interview to offer ratio of 2:1.

Discovery Graduates have also been involved in other projects related to Graduate recruitment at InBev including advising on media buying for their Global Graduate programme together with additional recruitment for analyst and procurement roles.
