Discovery Graduates have worked with Calor since 2004. Having previously brought graduates into other areas of the business on an ad hoc basis the company now wanted a more formalised and structured approach to bring graduates into a newly created role. Discovery's brief was to recruit graduates into Business Manager positions.
Discovery handled the entire project from attraction right through to delivering competency based assessment centres.
Firstly Discovery set about identifying the relevant competencies required for the new roles and building the assessment procedure around it. Time scales were short and regardless of their huge name in the industry Calor were not known as a graduate recruiter with great opportunities for career progression.
Discovery worked with Calor as a recruitment partner using their expertise to guarantee the delivery of the results at every stage of the process. Discovery impemented a 'quick hit' advertising maximising the effectiveness amongst the target audience.
Dedicated resource was allocated by Discovery to campaign to ensure enough of the right quality graduates were shortlisted for the final assessment by Calor managers..
One assessment centre delivered for Calor Gas involving all the recruiting managers and HR team with fourteen candidates. Four candidates were offered the Business Managers role and a further two candidates were offered Direct Sales roles producing a very effective interview to offer ratio of 2.3:1
Discovery have continued to work with Calor Gas on other graduate level positions within sales and procurement. To date all of the candidates recruited are still within the business.
